Unemployment Benefits: Which States are Extending Them? 13 weeks + 7 Weeks.

Across the country unemployment benefits have been extended for an additional 13 more weeks and possibly up to 20 more weeks depending on your state. At the moment, we are at the precipice of a potential unemployment disaster. It is true unemployment rates have started to go down, but with the re-emergence of the pandemic and states across the country, including California, moving back into lockdown, if things continue on this trajectory we may all be in for a rough next 6 months. Luckily, both the federal and the state governments are working together to try to ensure that the people who currently are on unemployment , and those who could potential apply with the next wave of unemployed, will have enough resource to make it through to the next year. One of the biggest ways that states unemployment agencies are doing this is through extending unemployment benefits, to as much as an additional 20 weeks for those who have already exhausted their unemployment benefits. So today we are going to cover the additional unemployment weeks that are being added to unemployment benefits, and how it may vary from state to state.
